I'll just use Mint

Reader Stories: What Software Will Replace Quicken Online?

From Terry

Will you switch from Quicken Online and Mint?

No, I'm going to use Mint when Quicken Online shuts down.

What personal finance software are you considering?

Mint (mint.com). It looks like it works pretty well and I know my bank and brokerage work with Mint. Wish I wasn't going to lose about a year's worth of data, but it seems like the best alternative. Mint has an iPhone app and spending goals. I can do split transactions in Mint.

Advice

  • Set up a spreadsheet and import your Quicken Online data into it so you have the information available to compare year over year spending. Of course, not everyone knows how to use a spreadsheet well enough to import data but most people do.
