Now you will begin entering the data TurboTax asks for to complete your income tax return. If you have not done so previously, you will want to gather your tax documentation so you have it available as you go through the TurboTax interview. You can stop at any point in the interview, save your work and return to TurboTax later.

Although you will want to follow the TurboTax interview, you can click on tabs across the top of TurboTax to navigate through your tax return. Each tab has a ribbon of subtopics that help you to drill down to the part of the return you need to get to.

The Deduction Tracker will appear on the upper left, displaying the amount of deductions as they add up and taxes owed or refund due as you go through your return. Do not be concerned if you appear to owe taxes early in the interview, as you enter deductions and credits this figure will change.
