Converting Quicken Data to Microsoft Money
I've been able to convert Quicken data and to import it into Microsoft Money Plus, but the result was too much of a mess to me to take the time cleaning up. Here's my response to John with a link to more info on converting from Quicken to Microsoft Money:
You can try converting your Quicken data to Microsoft Money, but it will not go without a bit of a battle. I believe you can get the data into Money, but cleaning it up would be a hassle. At least you can download a free trial of Money Plus and try the conversion to see how it works for you. Before you try the conversion, reading A User's Experience of an Intuit Quicken to Microsoft Money Conversion from the Microsoft Money Help and Information Pages will give you more info.

Shelly,
Thanks for your earlier answer.
Perhaps I asked the wrong question…..
I am trying to decide whether to have my head cut off or do brain surgery on it myself…..:)
I own Quicken 2006. Happy with it. Intuit is “sunsetting” me. Download service will disappear into the sunset in April 2009. Intuit wants to sell me the 2009 product which is nearly the same as the model I have. Cost of the upgrade is not an issue.
Reports on Amazon and other places speak to the horror of upgrading one’s 2006 (or so) data to file to the 2009 product.
So I earlier asked should I leave Intuit (for which I have no love) for Microsoft (for whom I also have no love) and their “Money” product.
Maybe, I should have asked this question — all I want to do is manage my credit card and investment accounts. What should I do???
Thanks in advance for any advice!
John
Both Intuit and Microsoft sunset their products. Quicken tends to be a bit more expensive, but it does not sunset for 3 years. Microsoft Money is usually less expensive, but it sunsets after 2 years, so it evens out. I agree with Shelly in that you should download a trial version of Microsoft Money from Microsoft’s website. Money and Quicken have their advantages and disadvantages, so, as you already have a background in Quicken, try Money out and then evaluate for your circumstance.
