Money Essentials Available in Canada

Tuesday February 12, 2008
The Microsoft Money Help and Information Blog reports that Microsoft Money Essentials is now available in Canada. The blog post says that Money Essentials is basic, 'online-only' software. The last time I tried Money Essentials, it was not online software but ran on my desktop while relying heavily on web-based features that require an Internet connection.

Glancing at Money Essentials for Canada leads me to believe that it has fewer features than the U.S. version of Money Essentials, so I'm not sure how useful the Canadian version is. That said, Microsoft Money Essentials has a 60-day free trial so you can take it for a spin whether you are interested in the Canadian trial or the U.S. trial version.

Keep in mind that Money Essentials is so basic that it does not work with data files from higher versions of Microsoft Money or from Quicken. If you used Money Deluxe or higher in the past, do not attempt to roll with Money Essentials unless you want to start over downloading and entering data from scratch.
