Accounting Software for Small Business
Software Title and Version
Quickbooks 2010
Is this Desktop or Online Accounting Software?
Windows ExclusivelyWhat are the best features in this software?
Quickbooks provides me with a convenient place to keep nearly all my business information in one place: Names of customers, their contact information, invoices, and finances.
How could this software improve?
Quickbooks seems to slow down my computer sometimes. Also, I really dislike how QB places advertisements inside this software.
My Review
I use Quickbooks every day. I use it to store customer information, and I leave the program running so I can quickly look up or add information. Quickbooks is good at what it does, but I'm starting to get annoyed with a couple of it's "features." When I "receive a payment" from a customer, Quickbooks asks me if I want to sign up for an email marketing service so I can "thank" the customer. (Sorry Quickbooks, but I don't thank my customers by spamming them.) I click the button "Don't Ask Again." And still that offer pops up. This scenario repeats itself Every Time I receive a payment. >>Grr<< Also, sometimes the text ads under "Do More With Quickbooks" will display even though that section is collapsed on my home page; the text overlays the other reminder widgets, making this for a slightly unsightly design flaw. While online banking mostly works, it simply does not work at all with some banks. QB has never recognized that I already have a Discover account set up whenever I try to import. It always forces me to add a new account. Thus for that account I have to manually reconcile each month.
For what Quickbooks does best (accounting and contact management), it's been worthwhile for me. However Quickbooks is starting to lose its appeal, and I have been looking around to find replacement software. I may end up splitting my needs between separate contact manager and accounting softwares.
