TaxCut runs on most newer computers. Take a look at the system requirements for TaxCut to find out if TaxCut will run on your Mac or Windows PC.
According to published TaxCut system requirements, TaxCut is a 32-bit application that has been tested on and runs on 64-bit operating systems.
Minimum PC and Mac System Requirements for TaxCut Desktop
Operating System / Browser:- Windows 2000 SP4, XP and Vista with Internet Explorer 6 or higher.
- Mac OS X (10.4) or higher with Safari 2 or higher
RAM:
A TaxCut representative informed me that TaxCut for Windows desktop would run on 128 MB of RAM. In my opinion, this would make for some real slow going while using TaxCut to do your taxes. The following specs for Windows are my suggestions.
- Windows:
- 512 MB for Windows 2000 and XP
- 1 GB for Windows Vista
- Mac: 256 MB RAM / OS X 10.4.x
- Windows and Mac: 170 MB / 55MB for DeductionPro / 100 MB for WILLPower (DeductionPro and WILLPower free with desktop TaxCut).
- TaxCut Home and Business (Windows only): 380 MB
Monitor:
Windows and Mac: 800 x 600 SVGA Color Monitor (minimum 256 colors)
Browser
- Windows: Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher
- Mac: Safari 1.3.2 or higher
CD-ROM Drive:
Windows or Mac: 2X CD-ROM drive (4X recommended)
Printer, Keyboard, Mouse:
- Windows: any Windows-compatible keyboard, mouse and inkjet or laser printer
- Mac: any Macintosh-compatible keyboard, mouse and inkjet or laser printer
An internet connection is required for TaxCut updates and state downloads and e-filing. Speakers and sound card required to view videos and animation.
