The Three Best Features in Quicken 2005
New Features Save Time with Quicken

Quicken Deluxe 2005

There are many new features in Quicken 2005 that make the program more efficient to use. The top three are:

Manage Your Categories: Hide or Filter

Past versions of Quicken included many categories that the average person wouldn't use and that can’t be deleted because they were integrated with how the program handles investments and tax-related items. This meant a lot of scrolling through categories when entering transactions. Quicken 2005’s ability to hide unused categories is a long-awaited and time-saving feature.

Categories can also be filtered so should you want to see, for example, only tax- or income-related categories you simply select the appropriate filter in the Category window. It takes a few keystrokes to get the same information to show up in Quicken 2003 or 2004.

Forecast Your Cash Flow: Track Scheduled Transactions.

Every household has an occasional unexpected expense. When this happens, most Quicken users will look ahead in the Calendar feature to see what bills and paychecks are coming up to determine if they need to transfer funds from one account to another. The new scheduled transaction feature will be a real time-saver for those who need a quick cash flow forecast.

Manage Your Account Register Faster and Easier: Copy, Delete, or Flag Transactions.

Finally, this feature has arrived! Many people save up receipts and do a massive entry of into Quicken registers at one time. These receipts are usually a combination of cash, check and credit card transactions. It is a common error to enter credit card transactions into checking registers and not realize it until accounts are being reconciled. In Quicken versions previous to 2005, incorrectly entered transactions had to be selected from the register and copied to the correct register – one at a time. The incorrect entries then needed to be deleted, again one at a time. Being able to select multiple entries and copy them over to the correct register all at once and then delete the incorrect transactions altogether will save Quicken users lot of time and frustration.
