Why Can't I Get My Microsoft Money Loan Account to Export?

By , About.com Guide

Question: Why Can't I Get My Microsoft Money Loan Account to Export?

All versions of Microsoft Money read and write to QIF files for data import and export to allow you to import data into other versions of Money. Unfortunately, this holds true for all types of accounts in a Microsoft Money data file except for loans and mortgages.

Answer: If you want to import a loan into another Microsoft Money data file, you cannot use the standard QIF export/import feature. Instead, you have two other options to import or export Microsoft Money loan accounts:

  1. During the export process in Microsoft Money you will be prompted to save a loan as a liability during the export. Use that option to convert to loan to a liability.

  2. Print out the register from the loan in Microsoft Money, then recreate the loan in the new Microsoft Money data file by reentering the transactions.
