Many Reports Improvements

The Quicken Mini-Report Button is a small amber icon found to the immediate left of Memo field when you click on a transaction in the register. See a quick report for a payee or category when you click on the Mini-Report Button , then click on See Report if you want a more detailed report. This feature is useful for figuring out on the fly how much you’ve spent, if you’re keeping within budget, or see when you last paid a bill.

Quicken 2006 reports are much better organized than in earlier versions of Quicken. Now, create folders to save customized your customized reports in. Organizing folders and reports in a way that makes sense to you will make finding and retrieving those reports much easier than before.

Assign toolbar shortcuts for most often used reports for fast access to your favorite reports.

Save Quicken reports (and invoices for business users) to PDF format for easy sharing with accountants, spouses, business partner. Reports can also be saved to a format compatible with Excel spreadsheets.

Graphs Enhance Reports

There are now graphs accompanying each report for a visual representation of your data. Graphs in Quicken 2006 reports can be turned off if you don’t want to view them. There are print options to get a paper copy of graphs or reports.

Attach Digital Copies

Quicken Deluxe, Premiere, or Premiere Home and Business 2006 lets you attach digital copies of receipts, cancelled checks, invoices, statements, and warranty information. Quicken 2006 lets you attach to transactions and attach to accounts. Images can be created with a scanner or by copying from your computer into a graphics software such as MS Paint, saving the file, and attaching to a transaction in Quicken 2006.

Electronic statements can be attached to accounts, and Quicken 2006 has an option to encrypt attachments to transactions or to accounts so they cannot be viewed outside of Quicken 2006.

Easier Investment Entry

Enter and edit investment transactions directly in the register. In versions previous to Quicken 2006, the user was required to fill in a pop-up form instead of entering investment transactions directly into the register. Now, just use the register as you would other transactions. The Quicken 2006 investment register has investment-specific options to choose from when entering investment transactions.

Transactions Calendar

The Quicken 2006 Transactions Calendar has a new option which makes entering new scheduled transactions much quicker than before. Click on New Scheduled to enter a new scheduled transaction and a window opens with well-organized scheduled transactions options fields to fill in.

Category Alerts in Reports

When opening a report in versions of Quicken previous to Quicken 2006, an alert pops up to warn the user if new categories have been established since the report was last used. I rarely found any new categories which would affect my saved report and found this warning to be intrusive because it made me take extra steps to get to my report. Now when this warning comes up, you needn’t review your categories and can instead choose to view your Quicken report as it was saved or even disable this warning altogether.
