Quicken will prompt you to see if you want use renaming rules while accepting downloaded transactions, and you can establish renaming rules in advance as well.
- Apply renaming rules to downloaded transactions. Select to have Quicken use existing renaming rules to automatically rename similar payees in future downloaded transactions.
- Automatically create rules when manually renaming. Select this option to have Quicken create renaming rules when you manually edit payee names.
- Don't display a message when renaming. Select this so the window which notifies you that renaming is occurring does not pop up.
- Renaming Rules button. Click this button to create payee renaming rules.
- Capitalize first letter only in downloaded payee names. Sometimes a downloaded transaction will list a payee in all capital letters. Choose this option to automatically have CRABGRASS LAWN SERVICE changed to Crabgrass Lawn Service in the register.
Click on OK to save changes and close Quicken Preferences, or click on one of the other preference selections before saving changes.
