Notify Preferences change the way you are notified of problems while using Quicken.

  • When entering out-of-date transactions. Quicken will notify you if you try to record a transaction with a date from a year other than the current year, giving you the option to keep the year as entered or change it.

  • Before changing existing transactions. Warns you when you try to modify a transaction, giving you the option to go ahead and change the transaction or back out of transactions you do not want to change.

  • When entering uncategorized transactions. Quicken will warn you when you do not assign a category to a transaction. You can still enter the transaction without a category, or you can choose a category.

  • To run a reconcile report after reconcile. Use this setting to have Quicken automatically ask if you want a reconciliation report after account is reconciled.

  • Warn if check number is reused: Quicken will warn you if you try to enter a duplicate check number.

Click on OK to save changes and close Quicken Preferences, or click on one of the other preference selections before saving changes.
