How to Import Microsoft Money Files to Quicken

Rename Money Accounts and Back Up

If any account names in Microsoft Money are longer than 15 characters, rename these accounts with a shorter name.

Back up your Microsoft Money data file to a new folder on your computer, or to removable media like a CD. Although the data conversion should leave your Microsoft Money data file intact, back the data file up in case you need to get at the data again with Money for some reason.

If you have created a data file in Quicken that holds transactions you do not want to mix with the Microsoft Money data, create a new Quicken data file to import your Microsoft Money data to.

  1. Click on File, New, New Quicken File.
  2. Skip the setup.
  3. Close Quicken
