Quicken Restore Problems
Resolve Quicken Restore Error Messages

By Shelley Elmblad, About.com

You try to restore a backed up Quicken data file from removable media (CD, etc.) and get the message, "Disk is not ready. File not restored".

To solve this issue, copy your backed up files to C:\Program Files\Quicken\DATA. If there is no DATA folder, you probably have installed Quicken on a new computer which did not yet have a data file on it. Just create the DATA folder and copy files ending in QTX, QSD, QPH, QEL and QDF, and the Attachments folder if one exists.

Or you can try Quicken's official fix:

  1. Click on File, New.
  2. Click the button next to New Quicken file and click on OK.
  3. Enter a file name in the File name field, then click OK.
  4. Quicken Guided Setup will open, but is not needed. Close the window by clicking on Exit Setup in the lower-left corner of Quicken Quicken Guided Setup.
  5. Click on File, Restore Backup File.
  6. Once the file is restored, click File, Open to open the file.
