Answer: Yes, you can get a deal on a Quicken upgrade by adding features to your current version, which is done right from within the software. Adding features works if you are going from one version of Quicken to another in the same year, for example, from Quicken 2012 Deluxe to Quicken 2012 Premiere. You cannot add features to upgrade between years (from a version of Quicken 2011 to Quicken 2012).
Tips for Unlocking New Features in Quicken
- You must be logged into your Windows computer as an administrator.
- New features are added directly from within Quicken, so have the software open.
- After you purchase the new features, there is no charge if you need to unlock the new features again. For example, if you reinstall in the future, you will need to add new features again (at no charge).
To Add Quicken Features
- Click on the Help menu at the top of the Quicken window.
- Depending on your current version, click on Which Quicken is best for you? or Add Business Tools or Add Rental Property Tools.
- Look over the information about the features you can add.
- Click on Order Online and follow the order procedure.
- If you have a Quicken.com or TurboTax Online ID and password, use it to log in during checkout. Otherwise, you need to create a Shop Intuit account during the checkout process.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and submit your order for an unlock code to open the new features. Close the Shop Intuit web site when you are finished with your order.
- Close Quicken and reopen it to begin using the new features. The new features do not show up until Quicken is restarted.
If you loose your unlock code, log on to Shop Intuit to find your order and get the code again.
