Question: How Can I Download a Quicken Update?
Answer: Quicken updates are free, and you can use One Step Updates check for and apply Quicken software updates. If you do not use Quicken One Step Update, you can use this procedure to check for updates.
Updating Quicken requires an active internet connection.
- If you are not sure you if you need the latest update, check your Quicken version to verify the update is needed. (If you already have the most up-to-date Quicken release and you try to update, no harm is done and you will just get a message confirming that you have the latest version.)
- Go to the Quicken Update Index.
- Click on your Quicken version, which is Quicken [year]. (Example: Quicken 2007).
- Scroll down until you see the list of manual download files. The file at the top of the list is the most recent release, and it will have R(x) in the file name with (x) representing the update release number, and will end with '.exe'.
- Click on the most current update to start downloading it. If you missed an update you still only need to download the most recent one. For example, if your Quicken version is Quicken 2008 R2 and there is a Quicken 2008 Release 4 available, you do not download both Release 3 and 4.
- When you click on the update file, you will be prompted to save it to your computer. Pay attention to where you are saving this file and leave your browser open to the Quicken update download page.
- Be sure Quicken is closed. In your browser, follow the directions below the list of update releases to open the update file and apply it to Quicken.
