File a Tax Extension with TurboTax for Tax Year 2004

Write the Check for 2004 Federal Income Taxes

After entering your information in TurboTax for Tax Year 2004, you may find that you owe taxes and you must remit payment with your extension form. The extension only gives you the right to an additional 4 months to get your return submitted to the IRS, it is not an extension on the due date of your taxes.

According to IRS Publication 301 for Tax Year 2004:
"...an extension of time to file is not an extension of time to pay. You will owe interest on any past–due tax and you may be subject to a late–payment penalty if payment is not made timely".
