Filing and E-filing Tax Returns With TaxCut and TurboTax

Both TurboTax and TaxCut print your tax return for mailing and for your records, and both offer e-filing.

TurboTax desktop offers 5 free federal e-files in all desktop versions. There is a $19.95 e-file fee for state returns. TurboTax State comes with TurboTax Deluxe and higher versions of the desktop tax software.

TurboTax Online offers one free federal e-file and you get a free state e-file with TurboTax Online State ($35).

TaxCut comes with 5 free federal e-files whether you use the online or desktop software. E-filing a state return with TaxCut Online costs nothing, but there is a $30 cost for each state return prepared. TaxCut desktop tax software charges $20 to e-file a state return.
