Answer: Tax software typically becomes available online and in stores during the third or fourth week of November. If you want to use tax software to file state as well as federal taxes, buy both returns together as a bundle to save money. You will have to access or download the state return later given that state tax software is generally not ready to download or access online as quickly as the federal return is.
