Question: Can I use tax software after I have filed an extension?
I filed for an extension on my income tax return, and now I'm ready to complete my tax return. Can I use tax software to file my return?
Answer: Yes, you can still use tax software to complete your return even if you filed an extension. This year, you can use tax software to file your return any time before October 15, 2010. Of course, this is assuming you filed IRS Form 4868 to get an extension of time to file your tax return.

Online tax software from a popular providers like TurboTax, H&R Block At Home (formerly TaxCut) or TaxAct are available until the October cut-off date. You can also buy desktop tax software for previous tax years from some online retailers (Compare Prices), or directly from H & R Block or TurboTax.
