No Hard Drive Failures or Forgotten Back Ups

Hard disks can and do crash, causing your data to be irretrievable unless you have been backing up data often. A good automated backup plan that is frequently tested should be in place for every home computer user, but in reality most procrastinate about backing up and do not occasionally test to ensure back ups are working correctly to restore data.

Online financial software data should be backed up often and ideally, a fault-tolerance system should be in place. Fault tolerance means you can continue to use the software even if the provider has system problems.

Tip: Check the data back up policy from online financial software you are considering using and be sure you are comfortable with it. Be sure to find out about the online financial software provider's fault tolerance measures, which should be included in their security statement.
