While
Simple Searches are faster, use Advanced Search in Microsoft Money to enter specific, detailed parameters to search transactions.
- Start Microsoft Money Search and Replace using the Ctrl + H key combination (hold down the Ctrl key, press the H key then release both the Ctrl and H keys). Alternatively, start the Advanced Search by clicking on Tools on the top left, then clicking on Find and Replace.
- Click on the button next to Advanced search, then click on Next.
- You can set search parameters in any of the seven search options:
- Text: Enter numbers or text. Do not enter payees here, use the Payees tab.
- Account: Select one, some or all accounts. Search only on open accounts or closed accounts.
- Date: Specify a date range or all dates.
- Amount: Search for transactions between two amounts or for a specific amount. Set something in this option or it will search on 0, likely rendering no search results.
- Category: Search all expense categories, or select only certain categories.
- Payee: Search all payees, and you can clear all payees and select just the ones you want to search for.
- Details: All transaction types, or change transaction types to search only deposits, transfers, etc. Search reconciled or unreconciled transactions, search for a check number or through a range of check numbers.
- When finished setting search details, click Next for a list of transactions that match the search criteria.
- Select a transaction by double-clicking on it.
- Click on Replace to change the payee, memo, category or check/transaction number for each transaction selected, or for all transactions found.
- Click on Create Report to generate a report that lists transactions with a running balance. This report can be customized using the options on the left under Common tasks or Other tasks.
