Do not back up Microsoft Money data to your hard drive. In the event of a hard drive failure, you will lose both your current data file and the back up files.
Click on Start, My Computer in Windows to find available media drives.
Before doing a manual backup in Microsoft Money you need to identify the drive letter which represents your backup media such as a CD, USB drive or DVD drive. If you are not sure of the drive letter, open My Computer and look for the CD-RW (or other media) drive and determine whether it is set up as drive D: or E: or something else. (A floppy drive is usually assigned to drive A:, but floppy drives are obsolete)
