Both TurboTax and H&R Block At Home print your tax return for mailing and for your own tax records, and both offer the option to securely e-file your return. Multiple printed returns can be prepared with the Windows or Mac versions of either tax software, but the online versions can only print one return.

TurboTax e-File Costs

The cost of TurboTax includes 5 federal e-files in all desktop versions, with a $19.95 e-file fee for state returns. TurboTax Online includes one free federal e-file, and state e-file is included in the $37 cost for TurboTax Online State.

H&R Block At Home e-File Costs

H&R Block At Home Online includes one federal e-file, and the desktop versions have 5 federal e-files. A state return with e-File costs $35 per state.
