The two biggest names in financial software, Microsoft Money and Quicken, have Internet-based services and these services are becoming more common in other titles such as SplashMoney and You Need A Budget Pro.
Internet-based services can also upload your information from your software to a secure website. Microsoft Money uses Internet-based services to upload data to MSN.com while Quicken offers uploads to Quicken.com. Both of these services allow you to view your financial information on a secure website when you are away from home.
Internet-based services can either update your financial information with the click of your mouse, or they can operate at automatic intervals you set to download the information in the background while you work in your financial software.
