Definition: The Microsoft Money Essential Budget offers a speedy budget set up and ease of use. The Microsoft Money Essential Budget lets you decide which expenses to track by choosing from the category list, which incudes common selections like Mortgage, Groceries, Electricity, Taxes for expenses. Income categories include Gross Pay, Net Pay, Income/Interest and Lotteries. You can also create your own categories starting with Microsoft Money 2006.

Use the Microsoft Money Essential Budget to get alerts when you overspend and to see a summary of the budget at any time so you can monitor your budget goals.

If you prefer to spend more time delving into the details of your budget, you will want to use the Microsoft Money Advanced Budget.

Examples: I wanted to quickly set up a budget in Microsoft Money, so I chose to use the Microsoft Money Essential Budget. I just selected the categories I wanted to budget for and was all set to watch my budget.
