Definition: Currency is money in any form used as a medium of exchange, especially paper money Basically, currency is the units in which prices are quoted. An example of such units of currency are U.S. dollars or Japanese yen.

Some personal finance software will manage multiple currencies by referencing currency exchange rates via the Internet. This allows you enter actual currency amounts spent while the financial software figures out the exchange rate for you.

Examples: Microsoft Money will display multiple currencies in an individual register.
