Advanced Budget

By Shelley Elmblad, About.com

Definition: The Microsoft Money Advanced Budget is designed for those who like to control all the details of their budgets. The Microsoft Money Advanced Budget allows for adding more details to the budget, tracking all spending categories, tracking expenses that don't occur on a regular basis, and keeping more than one budget at a time.

The Microsoft Money Advanced Budget is somewhat complex and it takes longer to create and update. But, if you like to monitor your cash flow down to the last detail don't let this stop you from using the Advanced Budget because you will be more comfortable with the results at the end of the budget creation process.

And, you can always get started with the Microsoft Money Essential Budget which sets up faster and easier, then switch to the Advanced Budget later.

Examples: Because I wanted to track savings goals for a new car and college in Microsoft Money, I chose to use the Advanced Budget feature. The Microsoft Money Essential Budget does not allow for tracking the same amount of detail as the Microsoft Money Advanced budget.
