I've just been informed on my Facebook Page that Quicken Mac 2007 for Lion is not a patch, but has been installed and used on Macs with no prior installation of any Quicken software. However, TeamQuicken tells me it just an update.
Intuit is offering a patch to make Quicken Mac 2007 Lion-compatible, which is great news for all of you who have resisted using Quicken Essentials for Mac due to the lack of features included in the earlier version (or for other reasons).
If you succumbed to the lure of Essentials but long for the days of Mac 2007, Quicken Support reports that you can now migrate transaction data from Quicken Essentials for Mac, and convert data from Quicken Mac 2005 and later.
Where to Get Quicken Mac 2007 OS X Lion Compatible
I went out to the Quicken Mac website, fully expecting to find some news and a link to the update (kind of makes sense, doesn't it?), but found nothing. I did some hunting around and finally found the Quicken 2007 Lion upgrade link, using it will set you back $15.
If you are new to using Quicken to manage your finances on your Mac, Intuit is only selling Quicken Essentials for Mac. If you want Quicken Mac 2007, you'll need to pick up a copy on eBay or elsewhere, then purchase the upgrade.
CNet has some good information on this upgrade, along with comments from mostly irritated readers who have switched to other personal finance software like iBank 4 and Moneydance. Mac Observer has even more comments, and a button that says, "Quicken Mac Lion Download for Windows". Huh?
