Quicken Desktop Near Death? Intuit CEO Stalked?

Tuesday September 30, 2008
First Microsoft announced that the future of Money Plus was iffy, now Aaron Ricadela at BusinessWeek quotes Intuit's relatively new CEO, Brad Smith as saying, "Quicken desktop is pretty much yesterday's news.".

BusinessWeek notes that Mr. Smith had dinner with the CEO of Hewlett-Packard and that he's been communicating with (probably texting or IM'ing - phones are old news) the top of the food chain at Google and Facebook for ideas for moving Quicken online. If I were Brad Smith, I would feel kind of paranoid. I mean, how on earth does BusinessWeek know who he has dinner with or who he talks/texts to?

Read Intuit Taps Hewlett-Packard and Google for Advice to come to your own conclusion. Oh yeah, you can get some hints on how the future of Quicken desktop is panning out, too.
