Bank Web Sites and Identity Theft

Wednesday July 2, 2008
I just read an article about the high percentage of financial institution web sites that have design flaws which could allow identity theft. I took great interest in this information, presented through a "new study". Well, maybe the study was newly-published, but as I read on I discovered that the study itself took place in 2006. That's not so new in Internet time. To quote one of the comments that followed the article, "In today's "technology years" (2 years is) like 15 years...".

The online banking and identity theft article from BetaNews is still an interesting read, as is the actual study which BetaNews links to. Just don't get too paranoid over this information. A lot has changed to improve identity theft prevention technology since 2006.
