Good News and Bad News: Converting Quicken 2008 Data to QuickBooks

Wednesday November 28, 2007
The good news for Quicken 2008 customers is that Quicken 2008 uses stronger encryption for data files. The bad news is that Quickbooks is not equipped to handle that encryption, so there is no data conversion right now between Quicken 2008 and QuickBooks. Darn, I hate when that happens!

Thanks to David for posting information regarding this issue in the About Financial Software blog comments. I searched QuickBook support site for information about this issue and found nothing, however, I found the thread in the Quicken Community Forum that David referred to in his blog post.

If you try to convert Quicken 2008 data to QuickBooks and you get the error, "QuickBooks has detected a problem with the Quicken data file. To fix this problem, open the file within Quicken.", you need to sign up to receive an automated notification via email when the issue is resolved. There is currently no ETA posted for this fix.
