Update: About.com Reader is a Finalist!

Do any of these statements describe you?

  • You have a small business that is your true passion and you want to leave the safety net of regular employment and put all efforts into your own business.
  • You have a great idea for a small business that is feasible, but you don't have the cash to start the business.
  • You have unique skills or have identified an under-served target market and you want to reach this market with your own small business, but you need experts to assist with the start up (and some cash wouldn't hurt, either).
Intuit just may make your dream a reality with its recently-launched Just Start campaign, offering free downloads of the just-right-for-small-business accounting software that is easy to use, QuickBooks Simple Start. But that's just the beginning. To make the Just Start initiative really juicy, Intuit will award one aspiring small business owner or one current small business owner a $50,000 combined cash and business services start-up prize while two first prize winners will receive $5,000.

All you need to do is go to www.IWillJustStart.com and fill out the contest entry form, giving the judges details on your small business aspirations, why you want to move forward into working full time in that small business, and how the Just Start $50,000 grant can help you to make your dream a reality. Submit your entry in writing or with a video providing the information asked for in the Just Start Contest rules by 11:59:59 p.m. Pacific Time on December 15, 2007. Be sure to clearly articulate ideas that demonstrate how your small business or idea for a small business is feasible.

Check out www.IWillJustStart.com, the least you could do is score free QuickBooks Simple Start!

Checking section 7 WARRANTY AND INDEMNIFICATION section of http://jumpup.intuit.com/justStartRules, we find some very questionable practices… Reading the below basically says… they are fishing for ideas and can RIP people off. Entrants! not just Winners, but also Entrants, lose all rights to the ideas, IP, etc… whether or not the contest/winnings etc EVEN happen. Shame on them!!!
