Will Intuit's Options Investigation Effect Quicken Development?

Friday June 30, 2006
A couple of people have asked me about the recent news on Intuit being investigated for stock options practices, and they wondered if they should upgrade when Quicken 2007 comes out, or if they need to find new software to manage their personal finances.

My response: Relax, folks. Even if Intuit is found to have engaged in some shady stock options stuff, Quicken 2007 will be out in stores in a couple of months, and I am sure we'll be seeing Quicken and other Intuit products for years to come.

Intuit is complying fully with the SEC and Intuit is doing an internal investigation as well. Many tech companies use stock options as a form of compensation, thus the SEC is investigating a number of tech companies' stock option practices at this time.
