I Turbotax software easier to use based on past years, however when I called TurboTax a couple days ago I was disappointed to find that the support person was knowledgeable and polite but had an Indian or Pakistani accent that made it nearly impossible to communicate. Then I called TaxCut as an experiment to find that they use English speaking support persons. Support requires communication skills in fluent English or it has no value at all. Hope this is of value!

I just e-filed my federal income tax with TaxCut and then tried to e-file my Michigan State Income Tax and I could not because it stated that it would not work because TaxCut does not support farmland preservation tax credit forms. However, it does appear that TaxAct wil work and also TurboTax will work for those forms. I bought the TaxAct Michigan e-file and am now filling out another Federal Income Tax in TaxAct to be able to e-file my state. I am not very happy about TaxCut right now.

Who’s ever heard of ‘farmland preservation tax credit’? I’m not surprised that a tax preparation program doesn’t include that. I don’t think it’s fair to disparage them based on an obscure tax credit.
